WHEREAS,
more and more Americans are turning to boating as a leisure activity
and we need to give increasing attention to safety requirements of the
millions who participate in this healthy, challenging outdoor sport;
and
WHEREAS,
the United States Coast Guard, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the United
States Power Squadrons, the American Red Cross and various State agencies,
offer boating safety courses and the information needed for the safe
operation of recreational boats; and
WHEREAS,
the novice and occasional boatman, the one who operates a small boat
on only a few weekends of the year, is urged to consider his own and
his family's safety information such courses offer:
NOW, THEREFORE,
I, Henry Smith, Mayor of Falconville, do hereby proclaim the week beginning
June 29 as
"SAFE
BOATING WEEK"
in Falconville and
surrounding recreational areas, and urge all Americans who use our waterways
and to take advantage of the numerous boating safety courses offered
by government and private organizations to help make their stay afloat
as safe as it is enjoyable.
